If that is true them I'm stunned that anyone would buy the traditional version. They are litteraly saying "I like spending more on gasoline". The Lincoln MKZ gas and hybrid models both have a MSRP of 35,190.
These licenses follow the general principle that you must release some source code yourself as sort of a "payment" for the software. Meanwhile some other folks decided this was a bridge too far and that the way to do "free" "software" was just to give it away, with no (or at least fewer) strings attached. This of course means that downstream users could make changes that aren't contributed back, but that's life in the big city.
